Bankrupt...?

Okay, stocks can go bankrupt under certain conditions. This happened at midnight last night, but because of a bug, it didn't work properly. I needed to manually fix it during the day (future stocks will go bankrupt properly) and this caused a lot of problems. I didn't "decide" to do this, it's just part of the game.

since I assumed stock prices only changed at midnight, and that I saw the stock trading at 15K galos this morning, and that I figured that I could safely wait til this afternoon (when I had time) to sell them, that you're going to give me the 495 Million galos that they would currently be worth? You can't, it's harder than you think. (And buying as much as possible would probably be counter-productive.) Anyway, I'll re-imburse people some of the stock that they owned via a script. Does that mean that I can safely buy 10, 20, or even 30 thousand shares and expect them to still exist in the morning? I don't care about up/down. Eventually, they'll come back around. But when they disappear entirely, that's another story. ---- telnet://twmud.com:2000

I know how many each person had, but I can't tell how many they got at 0 Galos. I did some automatic re-imbursement, but you may not have been included in that. Plus, the only people who were harmed the most were those who bought today, after the stocks stopped being 0 Galos each. Everyone else would have either lost it anyway, or got them for free. fn-kain: This will rarely happen, yes. There is still a chance, but you will see it falling rapidly for a few days before it crashes most likely. Unless I'm mistaken, I was not included in the automatic reimbursement. I had about 285 legit shares of napkins. While it was worth 0 I might have gotten up to about 5220. But I honestly got 285 of em. I will accept any ammount of galos anywhere in between those two numbers. Thank you. --Avian, Massive Attack

some of you guys are being a bit harsh imo. it's a game and guess what? it's in beta. know what that means? chill out, enjoy the game, and help sasha make it better. thanks sasha for everything you've done thus far. it's a great little addictive game and i've enjoyed myself thoroughly. cheers

i've cleared the log so i can't show you but i'm 95% sure it was 'sasha'. it was around 40 million and it happened a few hours ago right after i was refunded by admin. that's the biggest hit i've taken :o) admin could have made sure the people that were refunded were protected from attacks since there was alot of money in question just until we had a chance to protect the money. i'm not complaining or anything, part of the game really, but it's just something to think about when and if this happens again. cheers

At first, I was annoyed. Then it hit me. I really like this fix. Now, I lost 500 shares, so this is not me being an ass. But I made jajor jack from my boom stock, and it Waaaay more than offset my losses.... And I notice that some people also showed up in the top 10, from weapons funded by their stock that boomed. Sure, I'm not thrilled about sudden powerhouses, since most of us slugged it out to get up to here, but this is exciting, new, a problem to solve and deal with. This sort of challenge makes me excited and is at the heart why I play the game. Will powerhouses build themselves completely up by stock purchases? What protects such "investor" generals? Can they ever be plundered? Questions, questions... This is interesting.

Only this time, since I saw the stock had so much chances of bankrupting, I sold all of my stock and bought some attack weapons and other stocks... Only to find out the stock company didn't go bankrupt, but just disappeared. It was the one that cost 40,000 this morning. Okay, stocks can go bankrupt under certain conditions. This happened at midnight last night, but because of a bug, it didn't work properly. I needed to manually fix it during the day (future stocks will go bankrupt properly) and this caused a lot of problems. I didn't "decide" to do this, it's just part of the game.

Plus, the only people who were harmed the most were those who bought today, after the stocks stopped being 0 Galos each. Unless I'm mistaken, I was not included in the automatic reimbursement. I had about 285 legit shares of napkins. While it was worth 0 I might have gotten up to about 5220. i've cleared the log so i can't show you but i'm 95% sure it was 'sasha'. it was around 40 million and it happened a few hours ago right after i was refunded by admin. that's the biggest hit i've taken :o) admin could have made sure the people that were refunded were protected from attacks since there was alot of money in question just until we had a chance to protect the money. i'm not complaining or anything, part of the game really, but it's just something to think about when and if this happens again. cheers

At first, I was annoyed. Then it hit me. I really like this fix. Now, I lost 500 shares, so this is not me being an ass. But I made jajor jack from my boom stock, and it Waaaay more than offset my losses.... And I notice that some people also showed up in the top 10, from weapons funded by their stock that boomed. Sure, I'm not thrilled about sudden powerhouses, since most of us slugged it out to get up to here, but this is exciting, new, a problem to solve and deal with. This sort of challenge makes me excited and is at the heart why I play the game. Will powerhouses build themselves completely up by stock purchases? What protects such "investor" generals? Can they ever be plundered? Questions, questions... This is interesting.

Only to find out the stock company didn't go bankrupt, but just disappeared. It was the one that cost 40,000 this morning.
