New Feature: Stay Logged In

From: Sash | Posted: 6/16/2004 1:20:46 PM User Level: Administrator
You can stay logged in for 2 months or until you press "Log Out" by checking "Stay Logged In" now. The only way to do this is to Log In by the "Log In" page. Do not do this on public computers.

Er - wouldn't that help the autospenders and make it impossible to tell who's really online?

Nah, if you stay logged in, it will still say you are offline after you don't access a page for 9 minutes. All this does is a put a cookie on your computer so that your session never expires.

Sasha, is this just so you don't have to type your password in or what? (I've got mine saved in Firefox anyway)

Yeah, when you visit the site you will automatically be logged in.

Hm...so now, if I just leave a browser window open for more than 9 minutes, I can be stealth online...until I strike!

This has...possibilities...

On second thought, if an automatic browser refresh counts as activity, then this wouldn't do me much good. As Emily Latella would say, "Never mind".

Pity...

How about doing this for the message board too?

Even better would be to use the game account for the message board. You could still have a sign-up for non-game players, but have an option to turn their accounts into a game account. Make it so only the player's home planet board shows and non-players do not see any planet boards. Just a suggestion to make the site more user friendly.
